Experience
My desire to teach and work with students developed very early in my life. I started working with students in after school programs when attending high school. Building deeper understanding and the developing life long learners has been an under lying goal for as long as I can remember. This past fall, I retired after teaching for 31 years. My experience during that time has ranged from working with special needs students in a self contained classroom, resource room, and general education classroom. Helping students as well as fellow educators to better meet the needs of all students is instrumental for success. As a regular education teacher of third and fifth grade students, I was responsible for all subject areas. During the last decade of my teaching career, my primary focus was mathematics in a middle school setting. I was responsible to teaching 7th and 8th grade mathematics, pre-algebra, algebra, and some geometry topics. As a Title I Coach, I was responsible for meeting the needs of students ranging from 5th through 8th grade. Developing individualized plans for students struggling to understanding the mathematics curriculum was an area of personal success! All students are able to learn! We just need to figure out how to help them unlock the doorway to their personal success!
